Christine & Perry’s Yard Wedding With Seed Paper Confetti

Christine and Perry met in the summer of 2010 in rural Manitoba. After over 7 years of dating (3-1/2 of which was long-distance), they got engaged! Soon after the engagement, the couple started working on the ceremony and reception space for their wedding which would be held outdoors in the bride’s parents’ yard.

The couple spent many weekends preparing the yard even created many of the details themselves including the beautiful tablescapes with greenery, hand-painted geometric shapes, wooden table numbers where they burned in the numbers, and hand-stamped seed paper favor tags on saplings. The style was elegant and natural which also perfectly captures the bride’s style for the big day. Her dress had a sweetheart top with a lace overlay and a subtle gold leaf belt.

The couple chose biodegradable seed paper confetti for tossing as they walked down the aisle and incorporated the symbolic nature of the seeded paper into the ceremony. Below is an excerpt of what was shared at the beginning of the wedding ceremony:

“Perry and Christine are so grateful for the hand that all of their guests here had in getting them to this day, from their relationship beginning like a seed, to it gradually taking root, to the flourishing love we are here to witness today. To symbolize your support for their commitment, a basket of wildflower seed paper confetti will be passed around for you to take a small handful. After the ceremony, during the recessional, please shower the bride and groom with the confetti. In this way, you will all have a hand in helping wildflowers grow in their ceremony space, just as you will continue to encourage them in their marriage. They know that you are all here as a support for them, and they are confident that you will continue to have a hand in their continued growth and blossoming as a couple.”

As the happy newlyweds walked down the aisle, their family and friends showered them with love by tossing the seed paper confetti hearts. Watch this short video that captures some of the beautiful moments of the special day including the tossing of the confetti.
