How Native Women Lead Used Seed Paper In Fair Trade BEWE Boxes

Native Women Lead is an organization that inspires innovation and supports communities by investing in Native Women in business. The organization values recognizing that Native Women are the backbone of communities and emerging as entrepreneurs and leaders. Their mission includes offering Native women-owned business promotion opportunities, low-interest loans, technical assistance, and funding.

To support their mission, the organization created Fair Trade Initiative Summer 2021 BEWE Boxes that include products from Indigenous, women-owned businesses. Each curated box provides fair and timely compensation to the included business owners, while also promoting their work.

Tucked in with the products, NWL chose to also insert Botanical PaperWorks seed paper panel cards as thank-you cards that listed the participating businesses. They chose plantable paper because it’s 100% eco-friendly which stays true to NWL’s eco-conscious values to reduce material pollution to the Earth’s land and waters.

The primary target audience for this initiative was the Native Women Lead community and allies, but the organization also hopes to expand beyond their community to new audiences and new markets.
