A Collection of Our Memorable Moments from 2023

As we bid farewell to another remarkable year, it’s time to reflect on some of the special moments that shaped Botanical PaperWorks in 2023.

This past year has been a testament to the power of teamwork, innovation, growth, and our commitment to growing good things for the planet. There are so many memorable moments to share, but we’ve hand-picked a few of our favorites!

1. TOPS+ Winnipeg

We kicked off the year with a tradeshow in our hometown of Winnipeg. It was the first PPPC show in the city since 2014 and it was amazing to connect with the local promo community. It was so much fun showing off our new and returning products. Shout out to PPPC for putting on an amazing event that we’re still talking about months later!

2. Indigenous Literacy Workshop led by Ashley Richard

Our management team attended an Indigenous Literacy Workshop led by Ashley Richard at CME Manitoba. This experience was eye-opening and essential in building the team we envision. In addition to that, our CEO Heidi Reimer-Epp has since joined CME’s Indigenous Advisory Committee, to continue our company’s journey to Truth and Reconciliation.

3. Our Composting Initiative

Our sustainability officer, Lea Coté, presented our new composting bins and educated us all on the importance of composting. We signed up with Compost Winnipeg to further reduce waste in all aspects of our company. Composting will allow us to divert any excess seed paper cutoffs that can’t be reused and kitchen food waste from landfills. It will also help us to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the process.

4. Our Spring Litter Cleanup

Our team collected 55 pounds of litter during our spring clean-up this year. It’s a great time to get outside and give our neighborhood some love. This year we worked with Take Pride Winnipeg for the supplies and got outside and did some good!

5. Our Waste Diversion Event for Earth Day

This year, to celebrate the 53rd annual Earth Day, Botanical PaperWorks held a week-long waste diversion event. During that week, we were able to divert 130 pounds of waste from our landfills. We collected items such as electronics, scrap metal, paint, and hard plastics. Since our products are designed to be zero waste, this was another way for us to continue to have a positive impact on our planet.

6. PPAI’s Women’s Leadership Conference

In June, our CEO Heidi Reimer-Epp attended PPAI’s Women’s Leadership Conference where we sponsored the event with seed paper thank you cards. The event is a great opportunity to connect with inspiring women in the industry while supporting and uplifting each other.

7. A Special Treat Day

Who doesn’t love a good ice cream treat on a hot summer day? We ordered from Fête Ice Cream & Coffee, a local, women-owned business. It was a fun, mid-year boost together.

8. Launching Hand-Poured Candles & Gift Kits

The product launching of our NEW Soy + Coconut Was Candles and Promotional Gift Kits was a big highlight this year. The candles were the result of a long (but fun) journey of testing and research. Shortly after we had created our candles, it was time to create gift kits — an easy and eco-friendly solution for corporate gifting. These new products were curated with sustainability in mind to help our customers make eco-conscious choices.

9. PPPC’s National Convention

In September, a few Botanical PaperWorks team members made the trip to Toronto to attend PPPC’s National Convention. While there we networked, introduced new products, and had a blast. The icing on the cake was being a finalist for three awards, including Supplier of the Year – Small Enterprise. It was an honor to be nominated.

10. Our Holiday Lunch Party

Last but certainly not least, we held our annual Holiday Party where we enjoyed a traditional holiday feast, shared some new Botanical PaperWorks t-shirt gifts, and took lots of fun photos together. We wouldn’t be able to accomplish what we did in 2023 without our amazing team, and we love to celebrate together any chance we get.

Thank you to everyone who supported Botanical PaperWorks this past year. We can’t wait to see what 2024 will bring!
