Botanical PaperWorks most memorable moments of 2016

Our Most Memorable Moments from 2016!

As another year comes to a close, it’s always a good idea to look back at the year from start to finish and see what special moments stand out the most. Whether you had an amazing year, a so-so year or heaven forbid, a dismal one, it’s so important to take that time to reflect on the positive things. Guaranteed there are bound to be at least a few! We put our year at Botanical PaperWorks in the amazing category so we wanted to share a few highlights with you as a way to bid adieu to 2016.

Here are 5 of our most memorable moments!

1. Winning a silver trophy at the PPPC Image Awards

We were thrilled to start the year off on a high note at the prestigious PPPC Image Awards in Toronto. Nominated for BEST in GREEN among great company, the award was presented to us for our work on Earth Day bookmarks for Shaw Communications with distributor Jane Mitchell from Oyster Promo Inc. We had a blast at the event and enjoyed seeing all the amazing work that was done throughout the industry in 2015.

2. We introduced our Native Seed options.

Throughout 2015, we worked on building a library of seed type options for clients that wanted their promotions to grow flowers native to their area of distribution. With months of planning and testing under our belt, we were finally ready to launch at the PPPC NatCon in January of 2016. Based on optimal growth rates and in keeping with our quality seed paper standards, we hand-selected 7 seed types for 11 North American regions. All of the native seeds were chosen in consultation with conservation biologist Dr. Vernon Peters to ensure that the wildflowers are appropriate for the regions.

3. We were nominated & attended the Spirit of Winnipeg Awards

One of the year’s biggest highlights was being nominated in the Small Business category at the Spirit of Winnipeg Awards organized by the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. The event honors innovative businesses from the community that are making a difference, so we were overjoyed and grateful to be included. Everyone who attended from Botanical PaperWorks was blown away by the beautiful decor, the delicious dinner menu and the overall atmosphere of the entire evening. It was truly a night to remember!

4. We had not just one, but two staff pregnancy announcements!

Celebrating life’s most special moments is high on our list of priorities here at Botanical PaperWorks, so were thrilled to hear about Jess and Michelle’s big news that they are BOTH expecting. We will be sad to see these very talented and incredible ladies leave us for a year but we are so excited for them. And of course, we can’t wait to meet the little ones! Can you guess who’s having a boy and who’s having a girl?

5. We got a new high-capacity printer & expanded our production area

In 2016 we officially shut down our stationery department which made more room for our other growing departments that needed more room. By culling out products and reducing packaging, we even created enough space for a new high-capacity printing technology that will help us fill large orders even faster. This project was a long time in the making and we couldn’t be happier to see the results.

Created with biodegradable materials, this seed paper is embedded with NON-GMO seeds that grow wildflowers, herbs or vegetables when planted in a pot or garden. Perfect for a variety of events and purposes including crafting, weddings, memorials, promotional products, recipients will love growing their own bounty of fresh flowers, basil, parsley, dill, carrots, lettuce or tomatoes with a simple piece of compostable paper.
