However, if you’re looking to attract more of these colorful insects into your outdoor space, this easy up-cycle butterfly feeder is a craft you and your children will love to make! They’ll love helping you create this butterfly feeder because they’ll get to use their artistic abilities with pretty paints, stickers and decorations!

As an eco-friendly, nature-loving company, we have a passion for upcycling used items and transforming them into something that becomes beneficial to the environment. If gardening and green living is important to you, you’ll love this particular craft because having butterflies in your garden is a fantastic indicator of a healthy eco-system. Besides their natural, eye-catching beauty, butterflies have a wide range of environmental benefits including pollination and pest control. If you’re looking for even more ways of attracting butterflies, hummingbirds and bees into your garden, planting seed paper is a great option. Made with eco-friendly materials, the paper is embedded with a blend of 7 different wildflower seeds that bloom when planted in a pot or garden. As the paper composts away, the wildflowers benefit the natural eco-system of these beautiful creatures.

  • Clean and dry an empty, recycled wine bottle and decorate it with paint and stickers
  • Using a sharp nail, poke a hole through the top middle section of the wine bottle lid. Because the sponge will be inserted here, make sure the hole is big enough for it to fit through.
  • Squeeze a small piece of a sponge through the hole and pull through with a pair of tweezers
  • Mix 1 part sugar with 4 parts warm water
  • Fill the bottle with water mixture
  • Tie one piece of twine around the top of the bottle and four longer pieces down equal sections around the top piece
  • Hang your up-cycle butterfly feeder on a tree branch and watch as the pretty little creatures feed on the sweet water!
