BizforClimate is an organization and platform promoting climate advocacy and collective action in the business community. The brand’s mission is to engage and mobilize business owners to voice their support for climate solutions and promote the rapid transition to an emissions-free economy. They encourage companies to voice their support for climate action by signing on to the Climate Action Pledge.

Objectives

• Promote and raise awareness for BizforClimate and its mission
• Gain signatures for the Climate Action Pledge
• Hand out promotions that are eco-friendly and in-line with BizforClimate’s values

Strategy and Execution

This year, The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce (WCC) networking luncheon and trade show theme was Climate Change Conversations. As new members of The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, BizforClimate recognized this event as an ideal opportunity to connect with their target audience. It would be their first in-person business event as a new organization.

BizforClimate’s target audience is businesses and corporations who want to be part of the climate change solution. Their booth at the WWC luncheon gave them a chance to chat with those individuals, including over 300 local business owners, employees, green organisations, and academic institutions.

To promote themselves at the event, BizforClimate needed hand-out giveaways. They decided to go with Botanical PaperWorks as their sponsors, as the company values sustainability. Together they created promotional seed paper business cards and seed paper coasters as small brochures. Made with recycled paper waste and wildflower seeds, seed paper was an eco-friendly alternative to non-recyclable glossy pamplets and brochures.

BizforClimate kept stacks of both on display at their booth and handed them out throughout
the event. Visitors to their booth were delighted to hear that the cards were plantable. With a textured appearance and unique look, the seed paper left a positive impression.

The promotional materials graciously supplied by Botanical Paperworks helped ensure a successful business networking event and raise awareness for the cause. Several new companies signed on to the Climate Action Pledge following the event.
