Easy Halloween Craft Projects: DIY Garland with Spooky Bat and Ghost Shapes

Halloween is such a fun time of year! Pumpkin carving, creative costumes, and of course, putting up spooky decorations! We here at Botanical PaperWorks love getting in the Halloween spirit, so over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be showing you some easy Halloween craft projects that are fun for the whole family.

Bats and ghosts are staple Halloween figures (and really easy shapes to cut out), so with that in mind, we made some fun DIY garland using these shapes and our own purple, orange and white plantable paper. These Halloween DIY decorations can hang in windows, over a fireplace, or on the wall, and are easy as 1-2-3!

What You’ll Need:

  • Plantable Seed Paper Sheets (We used purple, burnt orange, and white)
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch
  • Ribbon or twine
  • A Marker
  • Bat or Ghost Template

How to Make It:
1. Print or trace the template onto a sheet of seed paper with your marker.
2. Cut out each figure, and put two hole punches through the centre.
3. Feed the ribbon through one hole at a time and repeat until your ribbon is complete.

This easy Halloween craft project is a great way to get the family together, and it’s eco-friendly too. Seed paper is made from recycled, post-consumer materials. Once once Halloween is over, recycle your decorations by planting them, and wildflowers will grow!

In addition to this DIY garland, we found another easy Halloween craft over on Simply Modern Mom. Her bat candy holders are perfect for an afternoon craft (and would work so well with plantable paper, too)!
