Autumn and Winter Wedding Inspiration

Since “wedding season” is typically referencing the warmer months of the year, it can be tricky to find inspiration for a wedding in the colder months. But inspiration is all around you! Wedding season is any season so here’s some inspiration to lean into your wedding’s time of year.

Colors set the tone

Autumn color palettes. Left side has warm tones and the right side has jewel tones.

With the ever-changing colors of the season, it’s hard to go wrong when choosing an autumn color palette. An analogous palette of warm tones is an easy choice, but if you want to go outside the box, jewel tones are a great alternative.

Winter color palettes. Left side has blues and the right side has rose and gold tones.

While planning a winter wedding, your mind might go straight to red and green. But that doesn’t have to be the case. If you want red but are looking to avoid the holiday connotation, try rose gold and dark wine. To highlight the season itself, try building a color palette of a few shades of light blue and cream.

The details bring it all together

Autumn is the time of year for changing leaves and crisper evenings. Now is the perfect opportunity to create an intimate experience for your guests. Incorporating elements such as candles, textured table linens, and fun dishware are all great things to include.

A winter wedding is an opportunity to do the unexpected. Including foliage on tablescapes, providing blankets for guests, and choosing a venue with a view of the outside are all ways to highlight the season while being mindful of temperature. (You also can’t go wrong with twinkle lights throughout your venue!)

Florals are unforgettable

Not only is autumn colorful on its own but there are countless options and colors for flowers. Chrysanthemums and sunflowers are the most popular for the season, but there are so many other lesser-known flowers to choose from that will complement the time of year.

Wintertime is a deceiving season when it comes to florals. There are so many options to choose from, from cornflower to Transvaal daisy and of course evergreen foliage. There is no shortage of options this time of year.
