DIY Thanksgiving Place Cards With Seed Paper

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and it’s time to start planning dinners with your loved ones. Whether your fall feast is for your extended family or close friends, place cards can add a special touch by showing consideration for guests and dressing up your table settings. Get creative and have some fun with these DIY Thanksgiving place cards made with seed paper.

Making place cards from seed paper is not only practical, but also leaves your guests with something to take home with them: seed paper is plantable and blooms into beautiful wildflowers.

Supplies you will need:

  • Seed paper in the color of your choice
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Pen or marker
  • Foliage of your choice

Step one:

Decide how big you’d like your place card. Our suggestion for this project would be half the height of your plate (roughly 6” tall and 2.5” wide).

Step two:

Close up of marking three inches on seed paper

Measure the chosen size onto a sheet of seed paper, and make light pencil marks to create a guide.

Step three:

Scissors cutting the seed paper into the correct sizes for the place cards

Cut your seed paper into smaller pieces, with your scissors.

Step four:

Hole punched into top left corner.

Poke a hole on the left side of your place card, roughly ¼” from the top.

Step five:

Three place cards with foliage at the top. Laid out on a wooden table.

Place your foliage stem through the hole and pull so it stays in place.

Step six:

Writing a name on one of the place cards, using a ruler as a guide.

From the bottom of your foliage, roughly ¼” lightly write out your guest’s name with your pencil.

Step seven:

Going over the name with a black pen.

Go over your guest name with your marker of choice. It’s as easy as that! Now all you have to do is set your table, place your place cards, and enjoy.
